Completing a post-primary application form

If you are the parent or guardian of a child about to transfer to post-primary school, you will soon be completing your child’s post-primary application form.

You will be asked to provide a list of schools, in order of preference, that you would like your child to attend.

You may list as many schools as you wish.

No child can be guaranteed a place at a particular school.  It is therefore very important to list a sufficient number of options to try to ensure your child is not left disappointed and unplaced at the end of the admissions process.

The Department of Education recommends you nominate at least four post-primary schools, at least one of which should be a non-grammar school, to maximise your chances of securing a place for your child at a school of their preference.
