Customer service information, application of the Data Protection Act 1998 and advice on how to make a complaint in respect of entitlement to benefits under the NI Teachers' Pension Scheme (NITPS)

Contact Teachers' Pension Team for any queries.

It would be helpful if you could supply the following information when you contact us:

  • your Teacher’s Reference Number (such as TR 999999)
  • your full name
  • your date of birth
  • your National Insurance number

This information will help us to identify your record and to deal with your enquiry quickly.

Data Protection Act 1998

The Department of Education will use any information you provide in connection with the Northern Ireland Teachers' Pension Scheme (NITPS) for the purpose of administering and operating the scheme and paying benefits under it. This may include passing details to third parties that are involved in the administration and operation of the scheme.

The Department may also use your data for administrative purposes in line with its data protection notification. In order to fulfil its duty to protect public funds, the Department of Education may use information it holds to prevent and detect fraud. The Department may also share such information, for the same purpose, with other organisations that handle public funds. 

Teachers' Superannuation Scheme (Northern Ireland) complaints

As a member or dependant of a former member of the NI Teachers’ Pension Scheme you have the right to have a decision made by the Department of Education, Teachers’ Pay & Pensions Team, in respect of entitlement to benefits under the scheme, reviewed under the Occupational Pension Schemes (Internal Dispute Resolution Procedures) Regulations 2008 (the IDR Procedures Regulations).
