The EA held its first regional Youth Oscar ceremony at Assembly Buildings in Belfast earlier this week. The Youth Oscars, now a regional event, gives children and young people the opportunity to voice their needs through the media of film.

The Youth Service Oscars award categories are based on educational themes delivered as part of youth work. There are a range of themes such as;

  • health and wellbeing,
  • identity,
  • drugs and alcohol,
  • good relations,
  • gender,
  • culture,
  • mental health.

The awards are run entirely by young people and there are entries from across the province.

Staff from the Youth Work Policy Team presented an award at the event. It was very professionally organised with a real ‘Oscars’ feel.  The ceremony concluded in awards for the best film, photography and original music.
