In 2002, the Task Group on Autism, set up jointly by the Departments of Education, North and South, reported the pressing need for teachers to have increased support to assist them in working with children and young people on the autistic spectrum.
This document was compiled in response to that report and should be used in conjunction with the Autism CD ROM and DVD; these have been jointly produced by the Department of Education (NI), the Education and Training Inspectorate (NI) and the Department of Education and Science (ROI).
