Delivering Schools for the Future – Strand 1 (Area Planning)
Strand 1 of the ‘Delivering Schools for the Future’ project is jointly delivered by the Education Authority (EA) and Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS). It aims to substantially increase the pace of area planning and build a collaborative, single team across both organisations.
The project will support delivery of area planning change in both mainstream and special education. Uniquely, the project has enabled the secondment of serving school leaders into the area planning team. This has reinforced the educational focus of area planning proposals, instilled confidence and built positive relationships. 16 projects/areas were identified in 2018/19 and a number of further projects will be progressed alongside these in 2019/20. It is estimated that in the first 4 months of operational this collaborative approach has enabled the projects commenced in 2016 to progress to a stage that could otherwise have taken up to 18 months.
