The Education Minister was welcomed by Principal Racheli Yitzhak, along with representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Education, teachers and students. Ofek School provides opportunities for over 1,500 gifted and outstanding pupils from across Jerusalem who attend once a week to take part in small, ability-based classes designed to further their academic achievements.

Following his visit, Paul Givan said:

“The Ofek School in Jerusalem adopts many innovative educational practices, supporting diverse learners within a high-achieving environment. During my visit, I had the opportunity to observe lessons, meet with pupils and hear how they are encouraged to think creatively and collaborate with others.

"What stood out to me most was the passion and confidence of the young people that I met and their enthusiasm for learning was infectious. It’s inspiring to see how Ofek School and the Israeli Ministry of Education are investing in the potential of gifted learners while maintaining an inclusive approach that ensures every student feels valued and supported. This visit has offered valuable insights into how innovative teaching, flexibility and high expectations can transform the classroom experience and empower students to reach their full potential.”

During his visit, the Minister also met with Nina Zeltzman, Senior Deputy Director General and Head of the Pedagogical Administration at Israel’s Ministry of Education and Dr Dalit Atrashchi, Director of the Division for International Relations and UNESCO Affairs, Ministry of Education. The discussions focused on Israel’s strategic approach to pedagogy and how the country is advancing pedagogical standards across all educational levels.
