Circular 2021/13 - Interim Guidance on the Use of Restraint and Seclusion in Educational Settings

This interim guidance provides educational settings with the Department’s position in relation to the use of reasonable force/restraint and seclusion and provides an overview of the existing support and training available to schools from the Education Authority.
The overarching principle is that the best interests of the child should guide all decisions taken by staff in relation to children in their care.
