    With effect from 15 January 2025, the Minister of Education, Paul Givan MLA has withdrawn, as departmental policy, the Department’s literacy and numeracy strategy, Count, Read, Succeed which dates from 2011 and completed in 2020.

    A Curriculum review is underway which will be accompanied by new literacy and numeracy strategies for Northern Ireland, which take account of recent international research in these key areas and set out the support and resources that will be available to teachers.
