Education Minister meets pupils at Naíscoil an Chéide

Education Minister John O’Dowd today visited Naíscoil an Chéide in Keady.
The Minister met with pupils, parents and staff at the pre-school facility which opened its doors in October 2015, before enjoying a performance from the pupils.
Speaking during his tour of the pre-school, Minister O’Dowd said:
“Early years education has a hugely positive effect on children’s futures. Every year I encourage parents to participate in the pre-school education programme and I delighted that the Naíscoil an Chéide is part of that programme."
"Pre-school education builds upon the positive learning experiences children have at home, providing a rich variety of challenging play activities and experiences that help set the foundation, not just for their first few years in Primary School but their future success."
"Hearing the pupils perform nursery rhymes through the medium of Irish was especially enjoyable and I would like to thank everyone at Naíscoil an Chéide for inviting me along today. In the last school year, over 5,000 children from pre-school to post primary were being taught within the Irish Medium sector. This is a wonderful achievement and I am confident that the sector will continue to go from strength to strength.”
