O’Dowd approves increase to admissions and enrolment number at Strangford Integrated College

Education Minister, John O’Dowd, has approved a development proposal to increase the admission and enrolment number at Strangford Integrated College.
Commenting on the decision, Minister O’Dowd said:
“I am agreeing to this proposal in line with my duty to encourage and facilitate the development of Integrated Education.
“Evidence shows that there is sufficient demand for integrated education in the area to justify the increase in enrolment proposed by the governors of Strangford College.”
The school’s admission number will increase from 80 to 110 from September 2016. There will be an annual phased increase in the College’s enrolment number up to 670, starting from September 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.
In conclusion, the Minister said:
“I would like to wish Strangford College well for the future as it proceeds to implement this proposal.”

- The Education Authority published Development Proposal No 445 on 26 November 2015 at the request of the Board of Governors, proposing that Strangford College, Carrowdore should increase its approved enrolment number in a phased manner 670 starting from September 2016. This would increase the school’s admission number from 80 to 110 pupils with effect from September 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. The 2-month objection period ended on 26 January 2016.
