Notes to editors:
- On 18 February 2016 the Education Authority (EA) published Development Proposal (DP) No 448 to reduce the enrolment number of Forth River Primary School (PS), Belfast from 232 to 210, in line with the school’s admission number of 30, with effect from 1 September 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. The two month statutory objection period for the proposal ended on 18 April 2016.
- Forth River PS is a Controlled co-educational primary school with a current enrolment of around 208 pupils. The Minister’s decision aligns the school’s enrolment number (210) with its Year 1 admissions number (of 30). Operationally this means that the school will operate seven classes (one class per year group).
- The Minister has approved the proposal (as published) and the Department will work with the EA and the school to implement his decision.
