Education Minister, Peter Weir, today visited Rainey Endowed, Magherafelt to view progress of the £4million investment project.
The work is being carried out under the School Enhancement Programme (SEP) which provides investment up to £4million to meet immediate and pressing needs in schools.
Speaking during the visit the Minister said: “I welcome the opportunity to visit the school today in order to view the progress on the works carried out to date. The project involves internal refurbishment of existing accommodation and the replacement of existing mobile classrooms with modular classroom units. It will also provide a new permanent physical education facility.
“This is a substantial investment and I am certain that the completion of these works will offer enhanced facilities for both pupils and staff in which to work and learn in.”
While in Magherafelt the Minister also took the opportunity to visit Holy Family Primary School.
The Minister said:
“I am pleased to meet with pupils and staff today and see the standard of education and pastoral care in this school. Education is a key part of any society and I look forward to visiting many more schools in the weeks and months ahead.”
