Consultation on proposals for the future of the Youth Council extended until 3 July 2015

Consultation on proposals for the future of the Youth Council has been extended for another three weeks until 3 July 2015.

A spokesperson for the Department said:

“The establishment of the Education Authority presents an opportunity to reshape and reform regional and sub-regional youth service delivery to ensure that the service is supported to participate as effectively as possible within the new educational administrative arrangements.

 A different approach is needed to ensure quality and consistency in delivery of youth services in order to protect front-line services during these difficult financial times.

 All those interested in the future of the Youth Council are encouraged to have their say during the next three weeks.”

The consultation on the future of the Youth Council will now end on 3 July 2015.

1. The Youth Council is a non-departmental public body, established by the Youth Service (Northern Ireland) Order 1989, and is an arm’s length body of the Department of Education. Its main functions include advising the Department of Education, Education Authority and other bodies on the development of the youth service. It also provides funding to regional voluntary youth organisations.
