School Governor Appointments
The Department of Education (DE) welcomes applications from anyone interested in becoming a school governor.
School governors are volunteers from all backgrounds, who use their skills and experience to support schools in providing the best possible education for every pupil. Governors do not need to be educational experts or parents to serve on a Board of Governors.
DE appoints governors to Controlled Grammar, Special and Nursery schools; Catholic Maintained schools; Other Maintained schools; Grant Maintained Integrated schools; and Voluntary Grammar schools.
If you would like to apply to become a governor in any of these school types, please visit our application portal here.
