What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding is more than responding to concerns about abuse. It is about creating safe, inclusive and supportive environments where children and young people can learn, develop and thrive. It includes:

Protecting children from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Promoting emotional health, wellbeing and resilience.
Supporting children to feel safe, heard and respected.
Identifying concerns early and ensuring children receive the right support at the right time.
Working in partnership with families and other agencies to keep children safe.
