On 10 November 2022, the Department for the Economy is hosting an online event on "Developing a More Strategic Approach to 14-19 Education and Training - A Framework to transform 14-19 Education and Training Provision".

    The Framework

On 21 June 2022, the Minister of Education and the Minister for the Economy published the 14-19 Framework entitled Developing a More Strategic Approach to 14-19 Education and Training - A Framework to transform 14-19 Education and Training Provision.

The Framework sets out a vision that encourages new partnerships while enhancing existing collaboration to ensure opportunities for young people to learn about the full range of pathways and ensure they are supported to make decisions which allow them to fulfil their potential. It sets out a series of strategic actions which have been grouped into 5 key themes including:

    • Curriculum and Qualifications
    • Careers
    • Post-16 Provision
    • Awareness and Engagement
    • the 14-19 Education and Training System.

The strategic actions are underpinned by 34 supporting actions which set out the activities that will be taken forward in the short, medium and long term.

By enhancing existing collaboration and building new partnerships, the aim is to improve awareness and understanding of the pathways through 14-19 education and training; and ensure that our 14-19 education and training system is efficient, effective and meets the needs of young people, society and the economy.

    Event

On 10 November 2022 at 2.00 pm, Claire McClelland, Head of Strategic Portfolio Management, Department for the Economy, will host an online dissemination event and you will have the chance to hear more about the Framework, how we intend to move forward to implementation and how you can become involved.

The Framework and the actions set out within it will form a core element of the Department’s work going forward, therefore, you are encouraged to join us to hear more.
