The literacy conference, Strong Foundations – Building on Success, took place in May 2026 and brought together leading experts and educational practitioners from across Northern Ireland to explore evidence based literacy practice. On this page you can view recordings from the event.

    Introduction

The conference focused on the key elements of effective literacy instruction and alignment with the new Literacy Framework, providing a valuable opportunity to share insights, showcase school experiences, and support ongoing improvement in teaching and learning.

The programme included an opening address from the Minister of Education, Paul Givan MLA, alongside contributions from Dr Jennifer Buckingham OAM and Dr Geraldine Magennis Clarke.
