  • Information on the Reconstitution of Voluntary Grammar School Boards of Governors

    Topics:
    • Schools and infrastructure,
    • Schools' management

Voluntary Grammar (VG) school Boards of Governors (BoGs) are usually reconstituted every four years when members complete their term of office, and they may be reappointed or replaced.

The aim of the reconstitution is to achieve a good balance of individuals on the BoGs, based on the skills and knowledge and experience that they bring to the role. A typical Board of Governors should be representative of people from the local community.

The process for the reconstitution of the majority of VG BoGs for the next term of office has been initiated by DE. The affected schools will be contacted, as appropriate in the coming weeks about the DE governor reconstitution process.

Appointments to DE governor positions on VG BoGs are made by the Minister of Education.

The Department would like to take this opportunity to express its sincere thanks to all school governors for their hard work, commitment and dedication. Their contribution to the management of the school and ensuring effective learning outcomes for pupils is greatly appreciated.
