Integrated schools

Integrated education brings children and staff from Catholic and Protestant traditions, as well as those of other faiths, or none, together in one school. Integrated Schools ensure that children from diverse backgrounds are educated together.

About integrated schools 

There are at present 70 grant-aided integrated schools in Northern Ireland, made up of 38 grant-maintained integrated schools (23 Primary and 15 Post Primary) and 32 controlled integrated schools (24 Primary, 6 Post Primary and 2 Nursery).

If you would like more information about integrated education you can contact the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE).  It was established as a charitable organisation in 1987 and has responsibility to encourage and facilitate the strategic development of integrated education.
