Integrated schools

Integrated Schools intentionally support, protect and advance an ethos of diversity, respect and understanding between those of different cultures and religious beliefs and of none, between those of different socio-economic backgrounds and between those of different abilities.

About integrated schools

There are at present 70 grant-aided integrated schools in Northern Ireland, made up of 38 grant-maintained integrated schools (23 Primary and 15 Post Primary) and 32 controlled integrated schools (24 Primary, 6 Post Primary and 2 Nursery).

Statistical information on integrated education can be found in the link below.

If you would like more information about integrated education you can contact the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE).  It was established as a charitable organisation in 1987.  NICIE supports, advises and offers training to Integrated schools, and helps schools through the Transformation process to become Integrated.
